I am not making a video again until I lose more weight! Week 6

Well, Girlfriends, I am failing again this week. I have fallen off the diet wagon. The Girl Scout cookies arrived, and I tried to just give them to the kids, but failed. I refuse to make another weight loss video for YouTube until I weigh less than my last one, and I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around it.

But I hate being fat, and I hate this apron of fat on my belly. It hits my thighs when I walk, cuts off the circulation in my legs when I sit, and is annoying to get around in the shower. I need to hate it enough to get back on my diet.

Sometimes it seems useless to try when their is little progress. I'm sure that is just the lymbic system in my brain trying to keep the status quo. I need to use my pre-frontal cortex part of my brain to visualize the 145 lbs that I want to be. Visualizing is the only way to overcome the lymbic system's resistance to change. Dang. Help!

In my head, I am the thin woman I was up until my late 30s, then I look in the mirror.

Shannah's weight loss - week 3!

Okay, Girlfriends (and Guyfriends),
This has been a hard week. I only lost half a pound, even on HCG drops. But I have to tell you that I cheated. I ate carbs during the week leading up to, and including, Christmas. So my weight actually looked like the stock market - up, down, up, up, up, down, down. Finally it's down below last week's weight, yeah, but not much.

I've been so good, even through Thanksgiving, but I couldn't resist my daughter's homemade pumpkin pie at Christmas. She bakes her Halloween pumpkins, peels off the skin, then freezes the pulp fresh. And her pie recipe is to die for!

Today I am back on track, being really good, avoiding the carbs. Did I ever tell you when and how I weigh myself? I only weigh myself in the morning, after using the bathroom, before I eat or shower. I let all the air out of my lungs- and hold- while I step on the scale, naked.

This is the closest I am going to come to my actual body weight, with nothing in my stomach, dry hair, empty bowels and bladder, and no air weight in my lungs, no clothing. This keeps all the variables constant, so I can get a good comparison to my previous weights.

So as of yesterday, I weighed 296.0 lbs. I'll count any little victory I can. You know, the other problem I have is that I was taught to not waste food. My dad always made us kids be in his "clean plate club." Wasting food was a sin. As a mother, I can't stand to see my kids waste food, so I ate whatever was left on their plates (I could never get them to buy-in to the 'clean plate club' idea).

You don't know how hard it is to just throw good food down the garbage every day. I know it's better than packing it on me, but it just feels so wrong. I was a skinny child, skinny teen, and skinny into my 30s, until my metabolism slowed down. I could eat thirds every meal and not gain weight. Then it has been hard to overcome that eating habit when I slowed down and started putting on weight.

But I'm doing it - I'm throwing away the food the kids left on their plates. Whatever the dog (also picky) won't eat, goes in the garbage. Hard to do!

Shannah's weight loss - week 2!

Hey, Guys, Check out my YouTube channel at RocketMom14.

In the last month I lost 11.5 lbs by cutting out all carbs. For breakfast I usually eat eggs with salsa and a little cheese. For lunch a chef salad. For snack, a piece of fresh fruit. For dinner, about 7 oz of meat and veggies, cooked or raw. I only drink water and milk.

Avoid ALL caffeine. It causes panic attacks and depression, plus much more problems! I recently ordered HCG drops to add to my regimen. I ordered them from "E3 Everyday Essentials" in Brigham City, UT, for only $55.00. Her phone is 435-734-9510. Ask for Brenda.

I've already got the eating no carbs thing down, so adding the HCG will be simple, and should get me past any plateau in my weight loss. I don't exercise much, yet. When I do, I just rebound on my little trampoline or walk around the block. At this point, my exercise needs to be low-stress for my knees.

And the best thing I'm doing is taking Protandim, which helps to regulate my blood sugar. It's all natural and patented. The University of Missouri study says that all diabetics should be on Protandim. I'm not diabetic yet, but being a big girl, I know it's helping me.

So that's it: Protandim, some protein, lots of raw veggies, some raw fruit, some cooked veggies, some nuts, no carbs, and now adding HCG. No carbs means no potatoes, rice, pasta, bread, chili beans, sugar, soda pop, juice, or anything with carbs in it.

And stay away from fake sweeteners. Nutrasweet and Splenda are soooooo bad for you. And NEVER eat margarine; always eat real butter, but in small quantities. I find it easier to eat no carbs than to eat some carbs. Eating even a little carbs sets off a reaction in my pancreas to dump too much natural insulin into my blood stream, which just makes me crave more carbs. It's a vicious cycle. If I don't eat them, I don't want them.

Carbohydrates are actually worse for weight loss than fats. We actually need omega-3 oils for weight loss. And don't fall for the antioxidant myth. Too much antioxidants become free-radicals themselves. Protandim will take care of the free-radicals and toxins.

Shannah's weight loss - week 1!

Hello, all! I am starting a video diary to track my weight loss. I am posting it on a blog because I am hoping to receive tips, ideas, support, and encouragement from all my online friends. I started my weight loss journey at 300 lbs, and my target weight is 145 lbs. I currently weigh in at 297.5 lbs, so progress has been made. :) You can't let me give up or give in!
